Ok, so I just coined a new word in the English vocabulary – but it was needed . . . and I will explain why.
For far too long – around 4 decades now ( or a century depending on where you want to start) modern conceptual “art” has been gaining ground amongst galleries. Now I think it is about time things changed before some “smart Alec” decides to create “virtual” conceptual art such as saying that (s)he built a cathedral 500 feet underground then filled up the hole . . . so if you really want to see if it is true you will have to invest 10 trillion dollars in his real project to dig it up again . . . . yeah right!.
Well . . . as one conceptual “artist” said to the other on his birthday as he passed him a handful of air stating that it was a new example of his latest “art” to decorate his living room: “It´s the thought that counts!”
Yep – art is in the mind of the beholder and since nothing that has been invented can be uninvented (except in the mind of the conceptual “artist”) I vote that we recognise them for what they are: architects.
But not conventional architects – because their medium of expression is not a plan of drawings symbolising a building that only they can vizualize but their medium is itself art and as such they have usurped the end-goal and transformed it into their play thing. Shame on you all!
Anyway, I think it is time to call a spade a spade and so I have coined the word ARTITEQT or ARTITECT depending on how you want to spell it – to describe these new beings that are filling up tis beautiful planet with only designs and things that only their mind can comprehend . . . .
Welcome to Earth ARTITEQTS – may you come and live amongst us mere mortals in peace and harmony!
